Thanks from MCB to those who made the Okemo show!

We had a such a blast and would like to thank Sandy and her crew and Frank and the boys from Ct who made the trip as well as all the kind people from VT who helped make this a show to remember.
Paul Bozzi stepped in for Edmund on drums for the first 3 songs while Ed battled traffic to arrive just in time to sing and play on "Inner city blues"
We debuted 2 new originals "Still Drinkin" and "mind made up" and ripped thru a blistering version of "Reelin in the years". Also a spontaneous stop in the solo section of "What goes on" insired mc to come up with a new arrangement which we'll debut at the upcoming Elizabeth Park show on 8\24.

We're Back! New MCB lineup

We're very excited to let y'all know that the Michael Cleary Band is back with some new members! First of all we'd like to thank John and Ed Corvo for 17 years of amazing music and we wish them well in all of their endeavors. They will be truly missed.

We've searched high and low and we have enlisted three talented musicians to continue on with MCB (the next generation).

Joining Paul Bozzi, Vince Delaria and MC will be Tim the Bass Player (Rumor has it he has a last name of Wilken), Lee Sylvestre (fabulous guitarist and singer), and Edmund Peart (funky, soulful drummer and vocalist).

Tim the Bass Player hails from Chicago and is a veteran of many rockin Chicago based bands and most recently was a founding member of That 70's Band. He brings a solid sense of groove with a songwriters sensitivity for what is required in the low end and can jam with the best of them.

Edmund Peart has been living and breathing music all his life. He has traveled the states performing for thousands while singing and drumming with various Gospel, Jazz and R+B/Soul groups and currently plays in a Jazz-Fusion group called Nu Direxion with our very own Vince Delaria.

Lee Sylvestre first came to our attention when MCB played with The Bill Carlton Band and Lee's brilliant guitar playing and singing caught the ear of the band. Since then MC has been a big fan and when Lee parted ways with BCB he was immediately asked to join the MCB. Lee also plays a mean acoustic and you can catch him doing the occasional duo gig with MC as well.

We're excited to get out and see everyone again and we thank you for your patience and all your emails. We'll be putting new twists on old favorites, performing and recording plenty of new songs and maybe we'll surprise you with some choice cover tunes as well.
Here's to a great summer! Luv, mcb

Here is some info from The Silos website:

It is with the greatest sadness that we inform you of the passing of Drew Glackin.

He was unaware of an overactive thyroid condition that led to severe heart damage. He was surrounded by family and friends during his final days and hours and we are all still in a state of shock and disbelief.

Drew was adored around the world and his larger than life spirit and contagious jovial energy touched everyone he met, everywhere he went. He was a musician of the highest talent and made his mark in countless bands, record albums, and many thousands of live performances. He will be sorely missed and the memories of his music, his great humor, and his magnanimous generosity of spirit and love will be with us forever.

A fund has been set up in Drew's name to help with funeral costs.

The reviews are in!

Check out these reviews/ comments raving about MCB Live!

These guys have been dishing out their R&B/blues (with a bit of funk tossed in to get the rumps shaking) for nearly 20 years. Their latest album, recorded live at Black Eyed Sally's in Hartford, is a fine recording. It has lots of solos that actually work, some extend-o-jams that keep the crowd up. It's all that you'd expect from a established, polished band. 3/14 Craig Gilbert/New Haven Advocate

MCB Live
Live records are typically best saved for bands that have either a tremendous live show like Kiss or for bands that have a legacy that warrants as much ala The Rolling Stones. So reviewing a live record from Hartford act The Michael Cleary Band is a bit of a pre-loaded gun. The Michael Cleary Band has been carving out their niche as the areas preeminent blues-based rock band for almost 16 years now and they are great at what they do: check the solo at the tail end of Never Gonna Let, the harmonies on Stand, or pitch perfect classic rock stand-in Zydeco. The live setting suits them and it´s the relative coziness of the venue that yields a hominess as you have fans squabbling, the band´s inner dialogues and if you listen hard enough you can hear the clinking of pint glasses between sets. 3/21 David Lewis/Play New Haven magazine

Michael Cleary Band ~ MCB Live
For the uninitiated, MCB Live is a great introduction to the Michael Cleary Band, the closest you´ll come to experiencing them live. For area fans who´ve followed MCB´s near 16-year road of music-making in our region, it´s a cool souvenir to be savored, a colorful snapshot of these musicians completely in their element.
Recorded at Hartford´s own Black-Eyed Sally´s, MCB Live delivers an evening´s worth of funkified songs capable of moving both hearts and feet. Brothers Ed and John Corvo lay down and power the grooves here with soul and precision, abetted by Paul Bozzi´s engaging percussion; keysman Vince Delaria at times conjures up the late great Kenny Kirkland with his wondrously colorful lines; and Cleary presides over his ensemble with soulfully agile vocals and guitar.
Groovier than the Allman Brothers and more riffalicious than Tower of Power, MCB´s sound is an audibly tempting brew seasoned with skill and feeling. High points "Zydeco Girl," TOP-esque groove-fest "Funky 16" and closer "Child Inside" joyfully illustrate their musical bond is as energetic and entertaining as ever. Catch them live in Middletown on April 6th at La Boca. Guy-Michael Grande/Ear Candy/Rare Reminder

This disc RIPS!!! The solo on All To You is ridiculous. Alan Veniscofsky / Rane

5 Stars - Incredible live performance...
This disc is a great example of a soulful, incredibly talented band at their absolute best. Mike and the boys sound so tight, you can feel the energy on this disc...it's a great representation of how powerful they are live! Lee Sylvestre / Bill Carlton Band

I enjoyed the heck out of your live performance ...and certain parts really brought a smile to face. Elliott Randall / Steely Dan / www.elliott-randall.com/

The Michael Cleary Band
MCB Live
(self-released)

I am dating myself when I say that the Michael Cleary Band is more my parents´ music than my own. Influences like Little Feat, Bruce Hornsby and the Range, and the Allman Brothers guide their tunes. However, where their previous discs left me cold, MCB Live has finally convinced me that these guys are worth noting. And you know what did it for me? The lyrics. They´re a great working-class band with a great live show. Dan Berry, Hartford Advocate

Thanks to everyone for coming to Black Eyed Sally's for our 14th birthday party! It was a great night and we had a ton of fun. Since we received such an overwhelming response from the the show we decided to include some of these emails in the news section. If you have any comments or reviews of any shows, email them to us at michaelclearyband@earthlink.net and we'll include them in the news section. Thanks, MCB

Dear Mike,

What a thrill it was to see you and the band perform last night at Black Eyed Sally's..
You made me feel young and alive...
The energy , drive and enthusiasm...the love of the music really came through....there is no other "sound" like the Michael Cleary Band.
  Greg Holster

Fellas,
I just had to say how much I enjoyed the Black Eyed
Sally's show. In my humble opinion it was the best I've ever
heard you guys sound. Not only did everyone play their asses
off, but Rowdie had the mix totally smokin'!

Seriously, you guys sounded phenomenal and it was the most
fun I've had at a live show in quite some time. Like I said
that night, you guys proved, once again, to be the most bad-
ass band in the state; great tunes, great players, great
people.

Keep it up. You've restored my confidence (for the mean time)
in live music in Connecticut. Although on any stage,
anywhere, MCB could hang with the best of them and have most
of them running for cover!

Thanks for a great show.

Catch MC jamming with Jeff Pitchell on "Portland on the Move" on comcast channel 3 hosted by Dave Kuzminski. It should be replayed thruout October. MC ruins the punch line to jeff's joke, confesses that he learned to play guitar when he was grounded as a youth, and plays 3 songs with Jeff. A fun time was had by all....
